Are you experiencing a lot of stress in your life right now? If so, you might want to consider taking serious steps to de-stress. While there are an endless number of ways to do so, here are eight brilliant, easy, and fun ways you can start ridding yourself of stress immediately:
1. Redecorate your room
Sometimes all you need is a change in perspective to begin feeling better. If your room or home is a mess or feels chaotic, redecorate or rearrange it to regain a since of calm in your life. Take up a DIY project to create something to better organize your things or simply move around your furniture.
2. Draw to music
If you've had a particularly rough or stressful day, turn on your favorite album and draw along to the music. If you have paint, you can can use this medium, as well.
3. Have a dance party
Turn up the music and dance like no one is watching! If you need to release some pent up emotions or frustrations and don't feel like exercising, why not throw your own dance party? You can have de-stress and have a lot of fun doing it.
4. Take up yoga
Start taking yoga once a week, where you can begin meditating and exercising all at the same time. Even if you don't have time to take a class, there are plenty of yoga and meditation apps that you can use in the comfort of your own home.
5. Finger paint
Just because you're not a kid, this doesn't mean you can't paint like one. If you really want to let loose, put down some newspapers, lay out a few sheets of paper or a canvas and dip your hands in washable paint. Use your fingertips and palms to spread the paint around to enjoy the new textures and feeling of painting with your hands.
6. Get a plant
Some studies have shown that house plants can induce a relaxation response for certain people. If you want to de-stress further and have the opportunity, you can plant flowers, herbs or a fern in your yard or in a planter on your front or back porch.
7. Relax in a bubble bath
Sometimes you need to just have a self-care day to de-stress. If so, light some candles, put on relaxing music, and draw up a bubble bath one night. Read a book, or simply soak it all up to enjoy yourself.
8. Write in a journal
A stress journal can help you identify the regular stressors in your life and the way you deal with them. Each time you feel stressed, keep track of it in your journal. As you keep a daily log, you will begin to see patterns and common themes.
