Online Child Care Training Can Improve Professional Development Plan

How important is professional development at your school? In the early childhood education setting, professional development (PD) plans are essential for teachers or administrators looking to further their career and support their students' academic success. Research indicates that positive professional development includes getting feedback on lessons, modeling techniques, and creating enriching classroom content. All of these efforts can result in a positive classroom learning experience. Online child care training can prepare teachers to create and implement professional development plans.

The Northwest Evaluation Association, a nonprofit specializing in professional development, writes that the best PD plans involve support, accountability, choice, flexibility and incremental learning. After all, instructors need to be able to make modifications in their classroom based off of the needs of their students. However, change in any classroom involves accountability, which means teachers should take a communal approach to reflect, receive feedback, and get ideas about their PD? plans. To create a beneficial PD plan for your classroom, consider these two ideas:

1. Your instructional goals must directly connect to learning outcomes
It isn't enough to go through the required subject material and teach fun lessons. To develop a solid PD plan, make sure your goals in the classroom directly translate to the positive learning outcomes of your students. It's also wise if these goals also relate to learning outcomes of all staff members as well.

2. You should make learning practical
Teachers can have all the best tools in the world, but if they aren't helping students learn and grow, the tools are unnecessary. In this way, don't forget to make learning practical in your classroom. Many of the best PD plans support teachers with strategies and insights they can actually apply in their classrooms.
