Maintaining confidentiality as a child care professional
As a child care professional, you may come into contact with sensitive information regarding parents or children. In order to protect yourself, your staff, and the children, here are a few steps to take to ensure that you adhere to state policies and avoid disclosing confidential details:
Be fully informed: You must be diligent in adhering to and keeping up with your state's guidelines for confidentiality. If you are unsure about your state's regulations for privacy at your child care facility, visit the National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care and Early Education website to learn more. The more informed you are, the less likely confidential information will accidently be revealed.
Lock away any sensitive information: It's wise to store all documents containing personal information about the parents or children in a locked filing cabinet or drawer. This way all of this information will be not be easily accessible to prying eyes.
At ProSolutions Training, we offer online child care training for any early childhood education professional looking to gain experience in the field. Contact us today to learn about our informative courses and training programs.
