Description
The center director's multifaceted role includes a responsibility to support staff in the creation of an inviting atmosphere that encourages children to engage, explore, and learn. This course provides some basic ideas about interest area enhancements. It should be used as a jumping-off point for creating classrooms that become inspiration for learning.
It is important to encourage staff creativity and guard against stagnant and boring or non-functional interest areas. Learning environments should be arranged so that children's curiosity is stimulated. As teachers notice children's interests, props should be added that can encourage exploration of that interest. Help your staff to cultivate a need to keep interest areas organized, current, and engaging by raising awareness of their importance and calling attention to their primary functions in the learning process.
