Description

Providing quality education is the shared goal of all early care and education professionals. Part of providing quality education is being aware of the unique needs of children with special needs and providing support for families.

This course is designed to provide educators with a basic understanding of some of the more commonly occurring types of special needs as well as classroom modifications to accomodate them. Participation in this course will improve your understanding of the developmental areas affected by special needs as well as spark ideas for adapting learning environments to meet children's needs. You will also learn about the unique challenges and stresses that accompany being a part of a family affected by disability and ways you can help families cope.

This course will be divided into two parts:
  • Part 1 - Overview of Special Needs
  • Part 2 - Helping Families Cope

Not all courses are approved for early care and education in every state. Please check State and CEU Approvals page for details.
