Description
The United States of America has long been described as a "melting pot," with different cultures coming to this country, mixing and merging into one. However, that description of how cultures intertwine in the U.S. is now being described as more of a "salad bowl" of cultures: a society that is able to come together to make something beautiful while still allowing each piece to keep its individual characteristics.
This increasing diversity among the American people is not just reflected in society, but also in the children and families of our early care and education programs. To continue to support families of various cultures and ideals, family child care programs are called upon to create learning environments that are responsive to the diverse needs of all children.
