Description
This course utilizes a three-stage model of recovery from trauma exposure as a foundation for specific practices that will empower survivors of domestic violence to recover from trauma exposure. A basic understanding of brain functioning is provided and utilized to underscore the complex difficulties associated with recovery. Based on this understanding, a practice model for use in domestic violence shelters is presented and each of its five components reviewed, including safety plan, crisis prevention plan, individualized service plan, personal development plan, and transition plan.
