Description
Challenging classroom behaviors have made preschool expulsion and suspension more prevalent. Expelling a child from school is seen as the strictest form of discipline. Previous research has shown that children labeled with a behavior problem in preschool tend to experience problems throughout the elementary years as well as adolescence. Expulsion early in life has proven to be a predictor of later expulsion and to:
- Failing a grade
- Dropping out of high school
- Being incarcerated
This course explores the issue of preschool expulsion, its causes, and strategies to prevent expulsion from happening.
