Description
This course will provide an overview of the Strengthening Families movement and the protective factors framework and ideas for how you can apply these concepts in your work. This training is designed to be used by anyone who works with children and families – in any field. We use a mix of examples from early care and education settings, child welfare settings, and family interactions. Some of the video resources draw heavily from an early care and education background. While this may not reflect the work you do every day, the videos may open your eyes to what can be done in the context of high quality early care and education, and how those providers can be your partners in the community, an “extra set of eyes” on a child, and a key supporter of a family going through difficult times.
The online course can be taken as a professional learning opportunity at no cost. It is also a valuable learning opportunity for anyone in a parenting role. In this version of the course you will receive all of the training and you will receive a certificate of completion. If you choose this option, you will not receive CEUs or state training approval credit. (Credit will not transfer for CEU or state credit at a later date.) Not all courses are approved for early care and education in every state. Please check State and CEU Approvals page for details.
