Description
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a brain development disorder that affects many children and impacts their ability to communicate and interact with others throughout adulthood. The number of children diagnosed with ASD is growing and more and more are being diagnosed at a younger age.
In this course, we will explore the common characteristics of autism, the red flags for identification and diagnosis, common treatment and intervention options, and what you can do to support children and families. Once you have a solid understanding of autism, we will look specifically at inclusion in the early childhood classroom and you will learn the basics of including and teaching all children with disabilities.
This course will be divided into two parts:
- Part 1 - Understanding Autism
- Part 2 - Inclusion in Early Childhood Education
